Last Day-Bar Island, Bubble Hikes & Sand Beach

On our last day we enjoyed breakfast again at 2 Cats. It was definitely one of our favorites, AND, the only place we tried where the boys could find pancakes with chocolate chips.

We headed out after that to walk across the sand bar to Bar Island. There is a two-hour window on either side of low tide when you can make the trek across and hike around the island.  As long as you hurry back before the sand bar disappears again!

           Seriously, all we need are lots of cool rocks with a few cool creatures thrown in.

We plan to "summer in Maine" and found this cute house right on the water.

After that, we enjoyed lots of yummy treats from Morning Glory Bakery. Scones, Blondies, Chocolate Divine cookies, Chocolate chip cookie with almonds and a Blueberry Streusel doubled as our lunch. We needed all that sugar to hike Bubble Mountain again. For Real.

Ryan fell off that mound of rocks RIGHT AFTER this picture was taken.

Then we walked down to Bubble Rock. Super cool, unless you have a fear of falling like Chris does. He made it down there though!

After the south bubble we were heading to the north when Ryan puckered out. I took him back to the car while the other three went ahead. 

Andrew did an amazing job on all these hikes. It really makes us look forward to doing some serious hikes in a few more years when we don't have to carry anyone!
After the bubble mountains we headed to Sand Beach just to let the kids play for a bit in the sand because it was getting windy and COLD. They decided though, that they wanted to swim. CRAZY!!! The water couldn't have been 50 degrees.

And Chris decided to join them!! Crazy I tell ya! CRAAAAAZY. I touched it. With my pinky finger.

I think everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves on this end of summer trip. I think we are all vacationed out for awhile and are semi-ready for the school year to begin!
